STEPHANIE WILLIAMS 11+ TUTOR PROFILE
I have been tutoring the course since 2001 and would be more than happy to put you into contact with other parents and students who have successfully fulfilled their dream of getting into the grammar school of their choice. I received confirmation on Monday 2nd March 2009 that all twenty of the students I taught for the 2008 examination (2009 entry) successfully passed their eleven plus exam and were delighted to see that they were allocated the school of their choice. (Six into Chelmsford County High for Girls, six boys into Keggs, four into Colchester County High for Girls, two into Westcliff High School for Girls and two into Southend High School for Girls. In addition to this, I have seen three students be awarded an academic scholarship at New Hall this year.
When tutoring students for the eleven plus examination, many tutors will ONLY teach the technique of answering exam questions, whereas my style of teaching focuses on ensuring that each and every one of my students are taught the comprehension of the question.
I differentiate the work to the basic level then build on their knowledge and understanding step by step, which simultaneously builds their confidence. This becomes noticeable when sitting the mock examinations, which I monitor and asses throughout the course on a regular basis. I begin this process by using a set book list which I have compiled. I have selected the best resources which I believe is the key to my success.
I set homework on a weekly basis which I will discuss and record for you. This is marked every lesson and a tracking system is used to monitor progress. I have Qualified Teaching Status, with CRB check and General Teaching Council Membership, details of which are always readily available. I hold a permanent position at a local State Secondary School, teaching Business Studies but also cover Mathematics KS2 - KS4 and English KS1 – KS4. I am also qualified to teach Music Theory and Pianoforte.
In addition to teaching, I produce exam papers for Private Schools who offer Common Entrance Exams.
Acknowledgements I would like to thank Joan Williams, David Williams, Colin Williams, Tracy Menzies, James Goldsmith and Jon Chapple for their support and encouragement over the years. They have contributed many ideas and performed numerous practical exercises, for which I am eternally grateful. Also, a special thank to my students who (often unknowingly) provided inspiration and feedback which has been so encouraging. Finally, Lee at Eleven Plus Exams who has been my total inspiration. I couldn’t have done it without you.
