Prepare for Secondary School Course 2015
As part of the Prepare for Secondary School course which runs from October through to July and is delivered through 1-2-1 tuition, we will now be including Non-Verbal Reasoning and Verbal Reasoning, as well the core topics covered in English, Maths and Science at KS3 level.
Students will be expected to take one of the CEM tests that CCHS will be using as their entrance exam within the first couple of weeks of the students starting their grammar school. The purpose of this test is to predict their GCSE exam grades and the school’s value added score.
Our style of teaching will ensure that all of our children understand key methods in being able to confidently take the CEM (Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring) test. For further information about the structure of the CEM test please see the CCHS webpage.
We believe that the students need to be taught to understand and sustain a level of learning (as it can be detrimental to those who have worked hard to gain a place to then not do anything from the 11+ exam until the point at which they start) but more importantly to be happy and confident at their new grammar school.
The Prepare for Secondary School course will continue to run as a group session from July through to September at The Barleylands Educational Suite, Billericay, where we shall be putting the learning into practice. Through the group work we shall introduce students that will be attending the same schools, so the children will see some familiar faces on their first day.
