How to make a fruit salad

    You will need:
    Two pears
    One large orange
    One rosy red apple
One large bunch of black grapes
    Two small furry kiwi
    Two seedless Satsuma’s

Firstly wash the fruit to get rid of harmful pesticides and any bacteria.

After that get a large glass bowl, a sharp knife and a chopping board.

Cut through the orange’s end to make a flat surface. Repeat this on the opposite end.
Next stand the orange on one end and with your knife , following the shape of the orange, remove the skin and pith. Using your knife slice out the segments and separate the pips from the flesh and place in the bowl.
(Helpful tip: the orange juice prevents the apple going brown.)

With your knife, half, then quarter the apple (skin still on). Remove the seeds and the core from the quarters and cut length ways to produce thin slices. Mix the apple with the orange and orange juice.

Prepare the pears the same way as the apple, removing the seeds and core.

As with the orange remove the top and bottom of the kiwi. Then slice downwards in thin slices removing the hairy skin and revealing the emerald green flesh. Cut the kiwi into halves to gaze on the contrasting white and black core. Slice width ways and add to the salad.

Peel the strongly aromatic Satsuma’s, then segment and add to the bowl.

Pluck the delicious oval grapes and add to the mixture whole.

Stir all the fruit in the bowl and chill until ready to use.
(Serving tip: serve with a dish of cream, ice cream or yoghurt.)

Your delicious dessert is ready to be devoured!

    Fruit Salad

The fruit salad is a flavoursome but simple dish. Probably the best way to make it is with seasonal fruit.

    What’s needed?
Truthfully this is up to you, but I’m using the following fruits: 1 x orange, 1 x banana, small bunch of grapes, 1 x apple, 3 slices of pineapple, half punnet of strawberries and half a punnet of raspberries as these are the fruits I enjoy the most. Ultimately you can choose your favourite fruits to make a delicious mix.

    • 1 x large Bowl
    • 1 x large serving spoon
    • Small bowls for dishing up
    • Small spoons for eating
    • 1 x colander for draining washed fruit
    • 1 x sharp knife for chopping
    • 1 x chopping board.

Firstly wash your fruit thoroughly and drain with the colander, be careful with the soft fruit. Peel both the banana and orange, and cut off the skin from the pineapple. The apple can be cored and sliced into segments. The rest of the fruit can be sliced or diced into any shape you prefer, grapes are best left whole, but ensure all fruit is of a similar size.

Next put all the prepared fruit into the large bowl. Carefully, without squishing the fruit mix with your hands until you have a vivid mix of colours. You will now have an exotic, ripe, sweet desert. Once mixed dish out and add any topping you desire such as cream, sugar or custard and enjoy!

  6. My family and I were in the car, heading off to a restaurant because my brother, Ted, had turned twelve and we decided to go out for his birthday. After a half an hour drive we arrived and as I got out of the car, I felt the gentle breeze blow against my blue dress.

Before my eyes, stood a large restaurant that was as posh as the Queen’s palace. We entered and it was busy. Suddenly a lady approached us and we ordered our meal. She wore a uniform and on the left embroided in black, bold writing was ‘Aroma’ (On the right it read ‘Vannesa’) I had noodles which was satisfactory and when I had finished the noodles I desired to have a bowl full of fresh, refreshing fruits. As soon as I caught a glimpse of what was meant to be a fruit salad it smelt repugnant. The fruits were rotten and decayed I expected it to it to be fresh and tasty. Mum and dad didn’t order any more food in case it turned out like mine because they were put off.

Mum went to Vannesa and told her about the food. Vannesa replied that she was dearly sorry, so to repay that we were given a discount. Feeling repulsed by the food, we immediately left and haven’t been there since.

  13. Fruit Salad
A fruit salad is a perfect snack and is really flavoursome but is easy to make. While tasting nice you get your five a day, it is suitable for everyone, you get the nutrients and vitamins, and absolutely brilliant for a healthy diet.

I’m going to use the following fruits but you can choose how many and what fruit you want in your salad.

    Apples (2)
    Bananas (2)
    Kiwi (2)
    Strawberries (5)
    Raspberries (10)
    Blackberries (10)
    Peaches (2)

You will also need a bowl, knife, and colander and to top your fruit salad up you can use cream or custard but I’m going to use honey or you could also use golden syrup.

Firstly take your knife and slice your apples, chop the bananas (remembering to take the peel off), slice the kiwi, half the strawberries (remembering to take the stalks off), and slice the peaches.

Then place all the fruits in the colander and rinse under the tap.

Then place all your fruits in the bowl making sure the water has been drained.

Finally get two tablespoons of honey or whatever you choose and dribble it over the scrumptious fruits.

You can choose to either have it with a topping or ice cream or both.

So that’s your simple but delicious salad ready in four steps!

    1. Before you start making your scrumptious salad, you must first wash all your fruit throughout making sure that all the bacteria is removed.
    2. Once all of the fruits have been washed, you must start with your oranges by peeling the outside layer first and then cutting your peeled orange into small pieces of whatever shape you like.
    3. Afterwards, it is time for the apples which you will cut in small semi-circular shapes and remove all the seeds from the heart of the apple.
    4. After you have stirred the apples and oranges, you must then cut all the strawberries in half and chuck them in with the apples and oranges in the mixing bowl.
    5. Once you have given a good stir to the ingredients in the mixing bowl, you must then cut your grapes in half (Be careful as grapes can squirt at you) and throw them with the other fruits in the mixing bowl.
    6. Next come the Raspberries, which you simply just chuck in the mixing bowl with all your marvelous, tropical fruits.
    7. Finally just give your mouth-watering salad a good mix and start devouring it.

How to make a fruit salad

This is an easy few steps on how to make a scrumptious fruit salad.

    Chopping board

    Apple Juice

Firstly, dice your apples, bananas, kiwi and pineapple, make sure to de-skin them all, then into the bowl they go (when using a knife beware, they are sharp and you may need a guardian to assist.) It would be very responsible if you put the fruit skins in a compost bin, or recycle it. Secondly, separate the peaks of the strawberry and the stalk from the grapes, then add them to the bowl. Next stir all your fruits together so they are all jumbled up an mixed with your spoon. After trickle apple juice over the fruit – this keeps it from turning brown.
Finally enjoy your healthy but delicious salad.
