The darkness descended upon me like a Hawk. As I paced rapidly around the room, chills ran down my spine, and I could sense that something seriously sinister was in the room. A light, cold breeze whispered in my ear. Goosebumps travelled across my body, frozen like a statue.
It feels like the walls are closing in, I can hear deep, heavy breathing but it wasn’t me.
I thought that I was hearing things, but over and over again I hear breathing noises, ‘who could it be?’ I thought I was here alone…alone in the dark!
I stood there, frozen, at the top of the stairs! I slowly walked down the creepy, ghastly wooden planks, followed by the battered, brown door, into the most bloodcurdling, most hair raising place, my little eyes had ever seen.
I entered the place. I saw the most tatty table with a grubby, green scarf on top. At snail pace, I ever so slightly edged my head left, but then I saw it! As quick as a whip, I turned around… What was it?
I saw a monstrous, hirsute spider. I imagined it just picking up one of those diabolical, hairy legs and flicking it. I couldn’t take it any longer, so I galloped like a horse to the door and bolted up the creaky stairs, all the way to my bedroom and hid under my cosy cushions, forgetting everything. I vowed not to go into that unutterable place known to mankind. I have not to this very day.
The only thought that comforted me was the grim satisfaction of knowing how to get his revenge on Mr Saur. How dare he not believe my report about the cursed camera. It was true! It had a very dangerous hex. If you took a photo of someone, the image would come out, different. I once took a picture of our family car. It was an instant camera, and the picture showed the car in pieces, glass all over the place. Thirty minutes later, there was a car crash. I took a picture of Michael, my best friend, and he took one of me. His was a negative, and mine showed me swelling up all over the place. The next day, I’d barely fit in the car, and Michael had to hold very hard onto his bike to avoid getting blown away. How could he not believe me. I’d show him. I’d get the camera out of the house, and take a picture of him. One problem. It was in a haunted house that had not been used for years. Part of it had been knocked down. I stopped in my tracks. Between me and the basement door stood a huge web. And in the middle of that web? A great fat spider. It almost seemed to be smirking at me, daring me to come closer. The web covered the whole passageway. There was no way around it.
Alone, terrified and confused, I stood there still as a statue what was hidden behind that door? I went to turn to go back to my warm, safe house, when I realised, I was trapped. Trembling, I tried to fight my way out, but it was no use. With my teeth chattering and mind racing, I tried to find a way out but there was none. Then I suddenly heard footsteps… “Who’s there?” I gasped. There was no reply. “Who’s there?” I repeated. No answer, “it must of just been my imagination,” I thought.
“BEN!!! Wake up!” shouted his Mum. Ben opened his eyes slowly, looking around anxiously. Ben realised the haunted house was just a dream. “Last night I had the strangest of dreams,” Ben exclaimed to his Mum.
“Me too, I dreamt that you actually behaved yourself” sighed Mum, “Now, next week, I’ve heard that you have got a school trip to an old haunted house. What do you think?”
“NNNNOOOO!!!” I screamed, running to hide in the cupboard under the stairs, “I can’t! My dreams coming true!”
Darkness. Darkness everywhere. A shiver crawled down my spin, as I step through a spider web, as enormous as an elephant. Was that daylight?- I had spotted a flickering light in the distance-. It was the end. I felt I couldn’t win because I was smothered in eternal darkness. However, I soon came to a carved wooden door. Torchlight danced encouragingly either side. I felt a flicker of hope (deep down in my soul).
Without me touching it, the great, might door steadily creaked open. Who had opened it? Should I go in? Taking a deep breath I plunged my head into the unseen. My mind went blank.
As soon as I could see around the room- torches were lit all around the walls- without blinding myself, I regretted my choice. Cobwebs hung from all sides of the room. The only difference was that I could see! The walls were rough and made of: stones; pebbles; rocks and hard sand. On the rocky walls, I saw some red liquid eerily trickling down the side of the wall, illuminated in the firelight. What was it? I crept on. I found a trail of the red liquid leading to a cramped, ghostly chamber. Inside, I found my own younger sister, lying on the stone-cold floor apparently unconscious.
I felt freezing, deadly on my back. I turned cautiously around on my heel. I closed my eyes. Once I was 180 degrees round, I opened my sweet eyes.Nothing there! I finished my circle by turning around to face my sister again. Except, she had vanished, so had the blood and the chamber had also disappeared. Had I been dreaming?
“Hello one who is about to die,” my sister cackled, prowling around me, making me jump with shock.
“Sister?” I cried spinning around and glancing in all directions.
Falling to the ground the man witnessed a light. A dim, little light, flickering beyond the dead shrubs. Emerging closer to the light made the man imagine fame. He was picturing it now! Breaking news, strange, brave man discovering what is found to be a ahhh! The man fled in terror leaving a trail of shrubs behind him! What could of made him the popular man he pictured, was beyond that crooked, old, wooden door.
There were screams and shouts heard from a distance. I was terried as I didnot know what to do. There were spiders and cobwebs surrounding me. There was a monent of serinity but then the ground started to rumble. I ran blindly away from the rumbling sound. My heart was beating. I was petrified there was no way out. Did I know what to do?. It was a mystery………………
Then I suddenly heard footsteps…, it’s the end of the world! I thought, every spare second trying to find a way out of this life threatening place. “Who’s there?” I gasped. That very moment, the deadly creature showed me his ripping monstrous fangs while staring at me eye to eye “AAAAARRRRRGGGGG!!!!” I screamed.
“BEN! Are you okay? Wake up!” shouted Mum. Ben opened his eyes slowly, looking around anxiously. What’s happening! I thought.
Did that just happen I thought lazily I got out of bed, realising the dream was just a dream thank god for that I thought.
In a dark ,gloomy place with screaming train tracks and along come poisonous spiders red and sharp.Creepy cobwebs everywhere near two big flaming lamps to light the dark. The dusty, old and dirty doors slowly open as passes by a grumpy train carrying lots of ugly and scary passengers. There were millions of echoes of creatures hiding around us in a lost city of nowhere but seemed more like a frozen cave. The more we moved the noisier it got then suddenly, some footsteps coming from behind big stomps and sudden shiver gathered up and became more frightening. There it was about to scream but…..it was only a toy .
“What a silly dream !!!”

I heard the car splutter to life as Mum and Dad drove off, the boot wide open and jammed with branches of the tree we had just chopped down. Left to my own devices I sat on the fresh wood of the sweet smelling tree stump. The next thing I knew was the cracking of the splintering wood. Before I could seize a branch I tumbled down. Desperately I began to leap to free myself. Scrambling the walls, pouncing, I realised that there was no way out.
With tears trickling down my cheek I turned. I saw walls thick with cobwebs of all different sizes, I could feel crooked hands grazing my hair and face. As I forgot about the streaming cosy light my eyes began to get accustomed to the to the darkness. I pushed the ghostly, grabbing hands off my face and realised that they were just rubbery roots. I let out a sigh of relief and overcame my fears and noticed a dim light tumbling through the cracks of a door in front of me.
I decided to find out what was behind it. “ Probably just an old garage,” I thought to myself, however I changed my mind in seconds as creepy cackling laughter pulled me in. Although I was petrified, I had no choice. I tiptoed to the ancient door, trying each hollow step out in case it broke. As I got closer I sensed squeals, a moment later a cloud of jet black bats glided into my face, I nearly fell on the cracked step behind me but dropped myself forward, through the door.
I gasped in surprise…
Alone, terrified and confused, I stood there still as a statue what was hidden behind that door? I went to turn to go back to my warm, safe house, when I realised, I was trapped.
The colossal room surrounding me was as vast as an ocean.
I was so cold I had a fear of freezing!
With the wind whispering and the door moaning, my heart was rapidly pounding.
It felt like I haven’t moved century, I tried to move but my legs refused I couldn’t move.
Trembling, I tried to fight my way out, but it was no use. With my teeth chattering and mind racing, I tried to find a way out but there was none. Then I suddenly heard footsteps… “It’s the end of the world!” I thought, every spare second trying to find a way out of this life threatening place. “Who’s there?” I gasped. “BEN! Are you okay? Wake up!” shouted Mum. Ben opened his eyes slowly, looking around anxiously. What’s happening! I thought.
Did that just happen I thought lazily I got out of bed, realising the dream was just a dream, “thank god for that,” I thought.
Darkness surrounded me, spiders crept around me in every direction, waiting to attack me at any moment like an acidic wave.
“Hello???” I screamed “Anyone here???” No answer, I thought I heard a creak, but it was only the gargantuan door that I lent back on. I plodded forward a few steps only to realise that I was standing on a hidden pressure plate. “Oh great,” I exclaimed. “HELP!!!!!!!!” I screamed, as thousands of arrows, bulky as elephants, hissed past me as I ran towards the megalithic spruce double doors in front of me. “That was a close one!” I mumbled. Only then did I realise that…
I was in the same room! “This is impossible!!!” I screamed “What???” I was speechless. I thought that this door would lead to the exit; I was wrong. “Is this an illusion??” I wondered. The minute room around me was a pitch black sky, there was nothing else, but dust and the spider webs. There were so many webs that I thought that I would drown in them as I was covered head to toe in webs and spiders. Soon after that I ran, just ran towards the second colossal door. This kept happening over and over again (when I kept coming into the same room over and over again), until I fell down a trapdoor and fell to my doom. “This is my end I thought to myself!” I thought to myself.
“Jack?, JACK??!!” cried Mum. I woke up, then I noticed that it was only a dream!!!!!!!
As I entered the insubstantial haunted mansion, torches lit up showing a door surrounded by a spectral silence. Spiders webs covered the wall with a sticky substance. The traumatic darkness made me tremble in abhorrence as the atrocious doors clobbered open. I tried scampering out but I was staunched in. Spine-chilled, I grovelled the only way I could, onwards. Palpitating in consternation, I moved through the ghastly realm, trying to find a way out.” AAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!”…
It was only when a sudden shock passed through her like lightning, she parted her lips to steal a bit of precious air . Florence fluttered open her eyes and cautiously trembled to her feet , mouldy brick walls narrowed far beyond her sight lingering languidly beside them were flickering torches which when she glanced at them they seemed to whisper ” be careful on every move”. She tentatively crept out of the powdery earth that enclosed her and started to creep haltingly forward . Suddenly it was as black as a top hat and all Florence could do was taction her way through the ambiance . SQUEAK , DRIP , SCUTTLE . All Florence could hear was blood racing through her ears but as soon as she saw in the distant her heart wanted to leap with joy like a grasshopper . She scrambled to the wooden door and tugged the rusty knob with all her might but she stumbled down the stairs . Sorrow mingled with her rage and spread over her body like a disease as she gave helpless and isolated yelp shrivelled up and rocked herself to sleep .
The cobwebs shimmered like a glacier as they were moved unsteadily. They engulfed the mansion’s undiscovered cellar with a blanket of transparent string that awe-inspired the petrifying place. Ghastly ghosts softly moan about the cold wind floating in from the unused vent. Repulsive aromas filled the air accompanied by a drip of drain water from the sewers above. That relentless feeling of something watching me overwhelmed my body, as it silently worships it’s brain in hope that it will turn out of this bloodcurdling place. Is there no end to it’s menacing way of frightening all that surrounds it?
Torches are fire-breathing dragons manufacturing a small flame. Arachnids peregrinate around the hallway of despondency as enigmatic as a sly fox.
Walls confined the attenuated hallway to trap the presence of any living organism. A substantial door was stationary at the end of the hallway waiting to be opened.
All of a sudden, the handles started to shake as rapid as a cheetah. What was on the other side?
Like a lightning bolt, the darkness rapidly coiled around my body. The smell of death drifted through my nostrils. Suddenly, a hand flashed in motion, then, gone again. Fear flooded my veins as eyes appeared in the darkness. A door (I wonder where it leads) revealed itself but it was locked. Banging on the ancient door, a body was approaching me. Frantically, bashing the door before this terrible thing could catch me. Just before the monster grabbed me, the door opens. Standing in front of my eyes was the devil. Time froze. Do I suffer the fate of death? Do I take the devil’s hand and follow his path of destruction? I have a split second to choose. A wrong decision will lead to ultimate pain.
The coldness of the freezing gale rapidly enveloped my paralyzed body. Torrents of darkness surrounded me. Grim skulls sat on the worn-out path. The crooked arms of the monster nearly slapped my face. As I woke up from the daydream the monster I imagined was only a ghostly stooped figure of a tree. I went inside.Creak!I walked slowly along the hall. Suddenly a voice appeared out of nowhere,”Any creature not invited will die in anguish.I gulped my throat in fear and ran away.Everything was falling. Unexpectedly,a giant vase with a knife fell on me. I had discovered everything here except my fate…………..
The haunted house has ghastly ghosts which are so chilling they will make you faint in seconds. Once a boy called Jack went there and he froze like ice because of the uncanny skeletons. Also the blue mist can say bizarre words which can cause great pain in your brain! If you dare go in this place all you can hear is the squeaking of the mice. In-addition your hair will turn into a straight pencil if you get really scared!
Alone. I stood there, in front of the grand, rectangular doors. Slowly, tension built up in my body that was now tremberling with absoulte, pure fear of what was going to happen next. Perplexed, the candle, which manufactured the light, danced unstoppably, while, the round, white ball illuminated the dead of nights sky, however, whatever angle you looked at the circular balls colour did most deffently not change…the ice white ombreaed to the deepest, darkest; black. Without a cautious warning, goosebumps ran down my spine, as well as this, my mind started to race as if someone or something was lurking somewhere behind me. Who was it? Enveloped in my own thoughts and engulfed in a imaginary land related highly to this day. These emotions also still remain with me.
The creepy candles were as dim as the spooky night sky. The frightening stairs moved (with a squeaking noise) up and down trying to trap terrified people. The trees were horrifying monsters creeping closer in the gooey, wet, disgusting mud. Squelch-Squelch-Squelch. There were slimy bones scattered along the dirty, muddy ground. It was the most hair-raising place ever. DON’T GO THERE!!!!!!
The bare skinny tree branches were framing the large pale moon like prison bars.
My best friend and I, fearfully drew closer to the place my mum told me to never go.
The creepy tall shadows of the trees seemed to lean towards each other whispering in silence
As I looked down, to my horror I saw skeleton bones, just lying there without a soul.
The thick heavy air filled with anticipation as a curtain of darkness was drawn across the sky, bringing with it the fear of an invisible predator.
The only light that was lit was the flickering candles, that were expecting company.
In the descending midnight of the abandoned forest an amazing mansion could be seen only lit up by beautiful candles. This unbelievable place had unusual bones scattered around on the floor of the gloomy forest. Lots of mist was covering the frightening bones to hide them. This rejected dwelling could only be seen when darkness falls.
On the door, lots of intricate designs can be seen and this is because of the treasures that lies ahead but what lies ahead is also the key to the door.
A creaky staircase met my eyes. There was a gloomy decorated door. The house was staring at me. The arch on the top of the door reminded me of half a clock face. I heard booming voices from inside. The walls that surrounded the house echoed the noises, which seem to suggest that the behind the walls were rooms hollow as a empty box. This was spooky, do I dare to go inside?.
I ran and ran and ran. Darkness was following me around a creepy castle like a raven. There were mouldy planks of wood on the walls. In the distance, I could see a humongous door with thick iron shackles. Every time I got close to this mysterious door, terrifying slimy red vines pull me back. I wonder why? The black brick stairs started to glow and each step appeared to have a pair of unpleasant green eyes. I didn’t know what to do. Rats from the massive holes in the side of some planks crawled out and went through, resting inside the stairs. I took a closer look inside, definitely rats. The stairs were infested with them; I think I got too close because one of the rats scratched my nose.it was bleeding a little but I didn’t really care. I took a pin from my hair and tried to unlock the shackles on the door. Finally, I opened the door.
The haunted house was as black as midnight, not a sound could be heard except crickets and bloodsucking animals Wolves and foxes could be seen . This great oak door was as wide as the universe. The stairs were creaky if you stepped on it you WOULD BE HEARD!!!
Beautiful candles got lit up it was as bright as the shimmering sun glistened in the moonlight.
The clouds were grey this place WAS TO BE FORGOTTEN!!!
One sunny, nice morning I was just driving in my car until, CRASH! My car started speedily rolling down the steep hill and CRASH! Again, but I had hit a tree rolling down, I was in so much pain I wanted to die at this moment of time I would rather be dead than go through this horror. Suddenly I came to a stop the hill was over but I didn’t know where I was only me and my friend Frankie we both walked to find somewhere to sleep eventually we discovered a door. Frankie didn’t want to go in, neither did I but we had to, there was no where else to go rather than back to the car but that was danger in caps for us it could explode any second so we went in. The place was dark, spooky, lifeless and just plain horror we needed to either make it a home or climb up the mountain, of course Frankie being sporty and bigger than me, we are the same age just he is bigger than me, I hated it he said climb up so I had to agree but it was raining that wouldn’t have stopped us, so eventually we reached the top of the huge hill, big enough to call a mountain we had to walk a very long way, we stopped at a petrol station and got food then when we had reached our destination we agreed to never, ever, ever go back to that horrible, nasty, haunted, smelly, bad place with the door of evil that had strange marks on it but the next day on the news was,
BREAKING NEWS A HOUSE DOWN A BIG HILL WHERE A CAR CRASHED YESTERDAY SCIENTISTS HAVE DISCOVERED WHAT THEY CALL “The glowing evil” IT IS A HOUSE WHERE THE DOOR IS CLOSED AND IT CANNOT BE DESTROYED, MOVED, OPENED OR TOUCHED IF ANYONE MAKES IT IN THERE THEY DIE SAYS RUINS ROUND THE BACK OF THE HOUSE THIS HOUSE HAS OBVIOUSLY BEEN DISTURBED BY SOMEONE OR SOMETHING PASSING TO MAX OVER AT THE SEEN “YES CARL THERE IS A VERY BIG GLOW AND WAIT IT IS TURNING PURPL…” MAX MAX MAX! MAX HAS BEEN SUCKED INTO A BLACK HOLE, WE WILL FIND WHO DID THIS AND THEY WILL DIE.
Creak. One of the floorboards creaked. I didn’t know why I was doing this, really. It was probably because I was a curious girl who loved mysterious places and things. Anyway, I was walking across the floor, towards the stairs. Undoubtedly, I saw a skull and a few bones shoved into a corner. Something wasn’t right. I knew the owner of this house would never kill anyone. He was only a frail old man who loved his house. A cold breeze hit my face, making everything creepier than I thought it would be. I put one leg forward onto a step. Then the other one. When I felt safe on the stairs, I ran quickly up. I then found myself face to face with double-doors. Candles stood on little tables on the porch. I put one of my hands on the brass handle and turned it…
“This is not a god idea,” whispered Madison into my ear.
“What could possibly go wrong?” I asked in a loud voice intentionally. The look on Madison’s pale face hadn’t changed; in fact, it had turned worse.
Turning my head, through the semi-gloom, I saw the wooden stairs that led to the massive, elegant doors. A dim, dull lamp that was nearly running out was flickering on the edge of a table that was covered in minute webs and spiders that scuttled around to search for the darkest corners. Crawling through little cracks in the wall and ceiling were rats: disgusting, grey rats that had blood-red eyes and sharp claws. They looked down upon us intruders.
Suddenly I understood why Madison was so frightened of going any further. It was really dark, spiders and rats were crawling around, and there was the ancient myth that a ghost lived there, taking over the bodies of any trapped prisoners.
While we stood there, waiting, the only source of light ran out, leaving us in the dooming silence of the dark. Darkness folded us in his cold hands, and a chill ran down my spine. Madison, who stood whimpering at my side, was much more scared than me. It was when i was going to whisper something to her when i heard a loud and deafening CRACK! Finally Madison burst into tears, kneeling onto the floor with her face in her sweaty hands. Her crying echoed off the walls, making it sound as if there was a monster growling in the dark.
The thick mist crowds over the storm grey house, I stare at it, frightened and still. My cold breath seems to blend in in the foggy mist, whilst the doors disturbingly creek. The wind is a furious wolf, howling as if in distress. The spooky skeleton’s skull is hauntingly white, shimmering lightly in the moonlight. I start to run, the squeaks and cries forming transparent tears in my deep blue eyes. The rusty, gold handles sway in the night breeze. As clumsy as a newborn dolphin, I stammer down to push the deadly doors. Surprisingly, the door opened, even without me having to push it! When I turned as pale as snow, the walls went black as night. There were lots of cobwebs, although spooky, the webs seemed to be fluffy wool scarfs, just not wrapped around the wearer neck.
I was walking through the dark cave, a ghastly breeze slammed the door shut, I ran to the door it was locked, the only sound you could hear was the small silent echo of old, dark souls that had been lurking there for centuries…
Suddenly, freezing cold hands pressed against my boiling hot arms that were dripping with sweat! I felt a shiver go down my spine. As I was backing away there was a voice saying “darkness, doom, despair, DEATH!!!” What did it mean, how did this happen, how to get myself out…
I felt his arm reaching for my neck what to do next!!!
Blood was dripping down my collar you could see the bold colour staining my clothes! He pushed me to the floor, and I said my last words “why…”
The crooked doors swung open as if they were luring me in. I new not to enter but my heart desired to discover the concealed secrets this ramshackled , vast mansion withholds. My eyes peeked into the darkened household and observed over the ripped paintings of the last lord and lady . Wooden planks cracked open and led down a spiralling stair case which led into the mysterious darkness…
Licking at the domineering gloom and deathly silence were the dim flames. The distant sound of scratching and scuttling was heard, as if a knife was scraping away at a wooden surface. Standing alone were the double-doors; great, grey and gold doors that were enclosed in a case of webs.
